General Doors Corporation

General Doors Corp. has been manufacturing sectional overhead doors since 1947.

Originally, the product lines were entirely wood doors, but we added commercial steel doors in the 1970's and residential steel doors in the 1980's. The 1990's brought development of a network of distribution and sub-manufacturing facilities to serve the East and Northeast parts of the country. The current decade has brought a continued expansion of manufacturing and distribution space, and the development of wood and steel carriage style doors. We are one of the few door companies that still makes a full line of wood doors and that still manufactures our own track and hardware.

Residential Standard Wood Doors

Flat Panel

Flat (or recessed) Panel doors provide an economical choice, while offering the most flexibility in design and size options. The standard model is made with hardboard panels and finger-jointed millwork, but plywood panels and clear rails are two available options. Doors are factory primed.

Features:

  • Traditional stile and rail construction made with 1-3/8" thick select (no knots) finger-joint paint grade frame, or optional 1-3/8" clear solid rail Hem/Fir frame.
  • Choice of panel material include:1/4" tempered hardboard (standard), 1/4" lauan mahogany plywood, or 3/8" rough-sawn Breckenridge plywood.
  • Standard factory primed.
  • Can be built in any size, with any number of panels across or sections high. This unlimited design flexibility can produce a unique look to match any architecture.
  • Easily fitted to job conditions like an uneven floor profile.
  • Limited one year warranty.

Cladwood Panel

The Cladwood Raised Panel door features the same millwork and construction of the flat panel door, but uses a durable, weatherproof raised panel. The panels are constructed of medium density particle board covered with a fiber overlay. Door sizes are limited because of the molds required for the panels.

Features:

  • Traditional stile and rail construction made with 1-3/8" thick select (no knots) finger-joint paint grade frame, or optional 1-3/8" Clear solid rail Hem/Fir frame.
  • Weatherproof panels are constructed of medium density particle board covered front and back with a wood fiber overlay. Standard factory primed.
  • Cost effective raised panel won't crack, check or delaminate.
  • Easily fitted to job conditions like an uneven floor profile.
  • Limited one year warranty

Cedar Raised Panel

The Cedar Raised Panel door offers the beauty of ¾" thick cedar raised panels and clear and fine grade West Coast millwork. Panels are edge-glued vertical grain cedar, and the heavy duty rails and stiles are clear hemlock. Design and size flexibility are basically unlimited.

Features:

  • Traditional stile and rail construction made with heavy duty parts using 1-3/8" thick clear solid rail Hem/Fir stain grade lumber.
  • Panels are vertical grain edge glued Western Red Cedar. Panels are dipped in a wood stabilizer to minimize cracking and checking.
  • Factory priming is available, but not recommended because the water based primer we must use in a factory environment tends to raise the grain on the machined surfaces of the panel that are cut cross grain.
  • Can be built in any size, with any number of panels across or sections high. This unlimited design flexibility can produce a unique look to match any architecture.
  • Easily fitted to job conditions like an uneven floor profile.
  • Limited one year warranty.

The Flush Plywood door is made with ¼" thick exterior luaun plywood glued to a 1-1/8 thick wood core on either one or both sides. The two-sided door has a polystyrene core. Size is limited to 10 ft. wide to keep one plywood sheet on the exterior. This door is a fine base for overlay applications.

Features:

  • As a one-sided door this is 1-3/8" thick and consists of only a smooth ¼" luaun plywood skin glued to a wood frame. It is a very lightweight door, which serves it well when used as a base to build custom door styles.

  • Doors up to 10' wide are made with a one piece plywood skin. We do not make this door in widths over 10' as there are weather-seal and grain matching problems with piecing plywood edge to edge.

  • Simple, clean appearance is compatible with any style home, or application of overlay designs.

Flush Rough Sawn Plywood

  • Available in odd sizes, and easily fitted to various job conditions, including an uneven floor profile.
  • Simple, clean appearance is compatible with any style home, or application of overlay designs.
